Betty G, a rising global star and an Ethiopian musical superstar, has captured hearts with her extraordinary talent and passion for music. Born and raised in the vibrant city of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Betty’s musical journey began at a young age, driven by an unwavering love for
melodies and rhythms that transcend boundaries.
Her dedication to both her academic and artistic pursuits is a testament to her commitment to  excellence. Betty G’s academic journey led her to earn a dual degree in management from Addis Ababa University Commercial College and the Université de L’IAE Poitier in France. This fusion of knowledge and creativity fuels her unique approach to music.
Betty G’s musical career has been punctuated by notable achievements and collaborations that showcase her versatile artistry. Collaborating with Ethiopian luminaries like Teddy Afro and Zeritu Kebede, she has blended traditional Ethiopian sounds with modern influences, creating a signature style that resonates with a global audience.
As a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, Betty G leverages her platform to address critical global issues and advocate for positive change. Highlights

Fall 2023

Betty G embarked on her role as an adjunct professor at Loyola Marymount University’s Department of Dance in Los Angeles. Her class is focusing on the creative interpretation of three of her original songs.

Featured in " Hollywood After Dark "

Betty G performed on the globally broadcasted “Hollywood After Dark” TV show, which is accessible in over 45 countries. The event, hosted at a prominent venue on Hollywood Boulevard, showcased 50 distinguished celebrities. The captivating evening was captured by an elaborate production crew, including over 40 cameras and 50 microphones.

Enthralling Concerts

Betty G mesmerized audiences in concerts held in Seattle alongside Helen Berhe and Debekulu, as well as in Dallas with the notable presence of Ephrem Tamiru and Bizuayehu Demissie. These performances in summer 2023 enriched her journey with diverse collaborations and musical experiences

Keynote at Ethiopian Female Artist Forum

Betty G delivered a captivating keynote address at the Ethiopian Female Artist Forum in Los Angeles in 2023, alongside revered traditional singer Maritu Legesse and acclaimed actress and
lyricist Alemtsehai Wodajo.

Inaugural Global Conversation Performance

Betty G graced the Inaugural Global Conversation alongside Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr. and Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles in December 2022.

Anthem Performance at Prime Minister's Inauguration

Betty G performed the Ethiopian National Anthem at the inauguration ceremony of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in Addis Ababa in 2021.

Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony Performance

Betty G showcased her artistry at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in Oslo, 2019, where she sang “Hagere” and “Sin Jalleda,” two of her impactful songs

UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Appointment

Betty G was honored as UNHCR’s Goodwill Ambassador in 2019, a role
that highlights her dedication to global causes.

Multiple Award Wins at Afrima

In 2018, Betty G made history as the first Ethiopian to win Album of The Year at Afrima
Music Awards. She also clinched the titles of Best Female Artist in Eastern Africa and Revelation of the Year.

MANEW FITSUM

In November 2015 Betty G released her debut LP Manew Fitsum. The album was met with instant acclaim from all who heard it and quickly found its way into the thankful hands of hoards of her fans
around the world. The record comprises 13 original songs for an approximate total listening time of one hour, making for a comprehensive introduction to Betty G’s uniquely captivating repertoire.

WEGEGTA

In July of 2018 Betty released her long awaited second album. “Wegegta” has 13 songs that have a wide range of genres: contemporary, traditional Ethiopian songs, soft rock, and pop. The album was nominated in six categories of the 5th Afrima urban music and won AFRIMA’s Best Artist of the Year, Best Female Artist in Eastern Africa, and Afrima Revelation of the Year.
